Back in the ‘80s when they made Back To The Future 2 they showed us all tooling around in flying cars by 2015. Now obviously, as no one in their right mind would want to drive a motor anywhere but planted on the terra firma (especially a DeLorean), that was a little stupid.
What they should have featured was these utterly bonkers new wheels from Dymag. These are very much the future of circular perfection.
OK, so technically speaking, the Boxstrom here isn’t a whole wheel. It’s the barrel part. But perhaps the fact you get to choose your own face option too, just makes these composite items all the more awesome.
In fact, Dymag are mostly interested in creating the pinnacle of automotive engineering rather than flashy wheel designs, so they actively encourage some manufacturers to offer their own forged centres. That’s just one of the reasons you’ll find a special Boxstrom/BAC hybrid on the crazy new BAC Mono.
The short story is that these are about as cutting edge and teeth-achingly sweet as it gets. They’re not only lighter, stiffer and stronger than anything that will be available for a long, long time. But they’re 100-percent guaranteed to make your arse pucker up so tight it’ll almost keel over at the mere suggestion of going near a curb.
That’s why we love ‘em. And it doesn’t hurt that they’re made right here in Blighty either. Amazing!
