When the subject of sporty Peugeots comes up, most people think of hot hatches. There’s the 205 GTI of course, the car we all wish we hadn’t sold now that the values have gone insane – and the 106 Rallye, 306 GTI-6, 206 GTI 180, 308 GTI, and numerous others.
But the feisty Frenchies do like to play with longer bodystyles too. Remember the awesome 406 BTCC racers? Well, you’re looking at their spiritual successor here (kinda): feast your eyes on the 508 PSE.
This is the first taste of a new performance division, Peugeot Sport Engineered; based on the 508 fastback, the concept rocks a 1.6-litre petrol engine backed up by a pair of electric motors to deliver around 400bhp.
Production specs are yet to be confirmed, but we’re crossing our fingers that they’ll be similar to the concept.
