Players 6.0 takes it to the masses
The Players Show has always held a special place in our hearts, and it seems you guys were just as psyched up as we were. Now into its 6th year Players has established itself into a show that the UK should be truly proud of, and rightly so.
Luckily Players has kept its chilled out atmosphere that’s always been such a key part of the show. Turn up, drop the car and kick back was the order of the day and that’s exactly what we did.
And with a bunch of Fast Car feature cars in toe, we turned up to find an airfield packed with top motors, and the show hadn’t even kicked off yet!
Word that the Players boys were in town had spread and spread hard. The show must have been double if not triple the size of last years and despite the extra traffic the quality just kept rolling through the gates.
Being located on at North Weald Airfield in Essex gave the organisers access to two massive old hangers. One was filled wall to wall with everything your Aircooled heart desired, from old ratty campers through to immaculate Beetles.
Laura Turner turned up in her roof chopped beetle. Featuring suicide doors, a deep metallic purple paint job and a serious amount of lows she bagged herself our ‘Fast Car Hottest Car’ award.
The second hanger was wall to wall with the UK’s finest metal. Everything from filthy clean Quattro’s to supercharged BMWs and dropped Jap Mini Vans were present. Outside the trade area kept busy all day with punters getting top deals on all the latest gear.
Come 4pm and the awards started to flow with three out of five of the Fast Car stand cars picking up an award. Tom MacRae’s Silver MK6 Fiesta with full pink interior bagged himself an award along with Ben’s old school Civic dumped on Jeep wheels and Haps’s juiced fezzy, top work.
