Scott Riddex’s tuned and stanced Honda Civic EG6
It may seem at first that Ayrshire in Scotland would have little in common with Sunny California. But, as far as Scott Riddex is concerned, he’s there and living the dream. If you think about it, both are located on the west coast, both have golden beaches and both have sweet styled, low slung, stanced rides rocking the streets.
You see, Ayrshire is home to Lomotion; a crew of Scott’s mates who all share similar tastes in styling and a relentless thirst for lows, so they have a fair share of well-sorted cars on this Scottish coast. Okay, there may be a slight difference in weather but in Scott’s mind that doesn’t matter when he’s rolling in his sick EG6 SiR2, it’s Californication baby!
We caught up with a smiling Scott as he basked in the miserable Scottish weather, with his car gleaming like the sun. The Civic looked nothing like this when I picked it up in London in late 2010, he laughs, ìt was black with yellow BBS rims and rough Even so, Scott persisted with the black body for a short while and even fitted a yellow roll cage to suit but soon realised he was off in the wrong direction.
There’s a well known EG in LA owned by a dude called Spanky.î Scott explains, ìIt’s an amazing car and that’s what influenced me to change my plans. With his mind made up, the Civic was stripped of its genuine BBS RS wheels and they were sent off for a proper refurb and polish.
In the meantime, the car was treated to an Audi Brilliant Red respray but only after some smoothing of the bodywork. A Civic VTi front lip was added along with a carbon rear spoiler but other than the euro-style rear lights and JDM amber corners, there wasn’t much else needed on the outside.
When the BBS rims returned, much tweaking was needed to get the stance bang on. Arches were rolled, D2 coilovers wound down to 130mm and a camber kit used to get it sitting this sweet.
Inside Scott has fitted Honda prelude seats and stripped out the rear bench, adding a false floor and a strut brace in its place. The Wink ‘NASCAR’ rear view mirror and Porsche horn centre on the Raid steering wheel are two fine touches that add a lot of interest to the cabin.
Days on end were spent under the bonnet making the bay smoother than a surfboard, painting it cream and giving it a proper wire tuck. The battery and fuse-box have been relocated and the rocker cover chopped to show off the cam gear.
It makes for a tasty sight and although Scott’s focused more on the visuals, the low weight of this EG combined with the induction kit and Mongoose exhaust will give it plenty of punch too! It’s certainly more than enough power for Scott to cruise with his Lomotion mates. Ahh, life is a beach!
