Jason Maglinao’s stanced and modified Audi A3
We’ve all got our role models. Our Glenda is a bit of a Fatboy Slim fan, Initial G is inspired by The Hoff and Midge looks up to, well, everyone. But Jason Magliano had the best role model in the world – his Dad.
You see, Jason’s old man has been a lifelong VAG fan and his influence soon rubbed off on his son and even the rest of the Maglinao family. His sister rocks a Mk.6 Jetta running 19-inch BBS CHs and by the time Jason had passed his driving test he and his dad were both regulars at the SoCal Dubbers weekly meet.
Jason told us: “I was only 15 years old when we first made the trip and didn’t even have my licence yet,” explains Jason. “I came out every week, even if that meant having to do my homework at the meet.”
By looking at his beautifully sculptured A3, it’s clear that he hadn’t just been doing his school homework at the meets. “My friends and peers in the ‘scene’ played a big role in the influence of this particular build. I never really had a specific direction that I planned for this car, but if ever I saw something that I liked or was my style, I would try to incorporate it but with a little twist.”
Jason continues: “While my car seems to be ‘conventionally’ modded, you will find that the true originality lies within all the small details and little specifics.”
And he’s not wrong, just check out the BBS LM rim choice – not exactly an original modification on a VAG car but what he has done to them is. Having the centres powder-coated bronze and then reverse mounting them is another fresh twist.
But what really makes this car stand out is the stance, which is something Jason is passionate about: “I am a sucker for being nuts-to-theground low and my itch for lowness was never soothed until I went with the air ride suspension. I loved the look of tucking and poking, so I had to have both.”
Even with the A3 looking this hot, Jason still has plenty of plans for the car. In his words: “It definitely doesn’t stop here, this is just the beginning.”
