What is this standard looking piece of German metal doing on the website pages of a modified car magazine? Well, what you are looking at here is my new project car and daily driver. And don’t worry, as it won’t be staying standard for long.
So what it is? Well as you can probably see it’s an Audi A6, but this is not just any old A6 – it’s a 2.5 TDI 180 Quattro SE Diesel Avant. This means it has all-wheel drive, luxurious leather and Alcantara interior, lots of cup holders and enough room inside to house the inhabitants of a small country.
Now, I’ve got to admit I was originally looking at buying an A4 or the A6 All Road as they look awesome slammed. But when searching online I came across this beauty from our friends at VW Audi Breakers (the same guys I bought my Lupo from) and had to have it. Not only was it a good price, it’s just had an engine rebuild, a new gearbox and has 12 months’ MoT. So fingers crossed it should be good for miles and miles and miles.
Another thing I wasn’t planning on was buying a diesel. It’s been a while since I last owned an oil burner, but diesel tuning has come a long way since my last derv, so I’m looking forward to seeing what potential power and torque the clever men with laptops can unleash.
Looks wise I’m aiming for an autobahn cruiser. At the moment I’m thinking girthy 19in wheels, big stoppers, a good dose of lows and a change of colour for starters.
