In my last update I got new Yokohama rubber sorted. Will my next stop was getting the wheels professionally aligned and the camber looked at, as camber is cool granted, but going through £160 of rubber in two and half thousand miles isn’t.
So I headed to FCM Wheel Alignment in Bristol, as not only do they do a lot of work on performance, track and drift cars, they also come highly recommended.
On arrival I chucked main man Lee Colgan, my keys and he got straight to work with some clever kit. In no time he found out exactly what was wrong, I had way too much negative camber (as I expected) and some serious toe issues (well, you do have size 16-feet – Jules). I
In fact, on one wheel I had well over 3 degrees of camber and 5.0mm of toe in. Which in layman’s terms equals not good.
In just over an hour it was job done, my car was finely tuned to a fast road set up and had FCM’s assurance the tyres would be good for at least 10,000 miles.
The guys at FCM charge from as little as £20 per adjustment, not a lot really when you consider just 1/2 degree of camber over what you need could take two thousand miles off your tyres. It’s amazing its so often over looked, so my advice to you is get yours done today.
