We head to Wolfrace HQ to choose some new wheels for our BMW 335i project. We opted for 19-inch Munich GTRs and had them fitted up with grippy Toyo Proxes Sport 2 performance tyres.

We’ve got the suspension dialled in (check out Part 2 in case you missed it) and now it’s time for the next phase of our BMW 335i project — new wheels and tyres! The right set of wheels can make or break the look and performance of a car, and we’ve gone all out to ensure that our E92 not only looks sharp but also handles even better.

Why Upgrade the BMW 335i Wheels and Tyres?

With the suspension upgrade already done and dusted, it was only right to give our BMW 335i a fresh set of wheels. The factory 18-inch wheels are decent, but we wanted something a little more special to complement the new handling setup. A key part of any performance build, the right wheels and tyres not only boost the car’s appearance but also play a massive role in how it handles. Let’s dive into what we chose and why.

Wolfrace Munich GTRs for Aggressive Styling

We were spoiled for choice when it came to picking wheels for the E9X chassis — there’s a massive selection out there. However, we wanted something that would upsize the car’s stance while still enhancing its performance. Most 335is come with 18-inch wheels, but we opted for a slightly bigger 19-inch setup for that extra road presence. Plus, the staggered fitment—8.5 inches wide in the front and 9.5 in the rear—helps boost grip without compromising the car’s balance.

Enter the Wolfrace Munich GTRs. These are a popular choice for BMW enthusiasts, and for good reason. They feature a stunning multi-spoke design that nods to classic BMW styling while also giving the car a modern, aggressive look. We went for a gloss black finish to contrast with our 335i’s silver paintwork, which is going to look awesome once we reveal our upcoming exterior mods (stay tuned for that!).

Why the Wolfrace Munich GTRs?

Size: We chose a 19-inch diameter to give the car a more aggressive stance without compromising performance.

Staggered Fitment: The 8.5-inch front and 9.5-inch rear widths improve grip and stability while maintaining the car’s natural balance.

Finish: The gloss black finish offers a sleek contrast against the body, while the multi-spoke design brings a sporty, dynamic edge.

Quality: TÜV approved, meaning these wheels meet strict quality and safety standards. You’re getting a premium product for under £800.

The result? A more aggressive, personalised look that transforms the car’s appearance without breaking the bank. The Wolfrace Munich GTRs hit that sweet spot between style, performance, and affordability, making them the perfect addition to our build. But don’t copy us, Wolfrace has a huge range of different styles and sizes to suit everyone’s taste, so you’re sure to find a set of new wheels that perfectly match your style!

Tyres: Toyo Proxes Sport 2 for Ultimate Grip

Of course, new wheels need new tyres. And our BMW 335i deserves some quality rubber to match. Don’t make the rookie mistake of blowing your budget on wheels and then skimping on tyres—it’s the tyres that connect your car to the road, after all! To complement the new Wolfrace wheels, we opted for a set of Toyo Proxes Sport 2 tyres, a premium choice that guarantees performance across the board.

These tyres are designed for enthusiasts like us, offering exceptional grip and handling in both wet and dry conditions. The tread design improves wet grip and reduces the risk of hydroplaning, while also enhancing cornering stability and steering response—especially at higher speeds. Whether we’re out on a spirited drive or just commuting, the Proxes Sport 2 strikes the perfect balance between performance and comfort. We’ve used these tyres on loads of previous projects, and we’ll keep doing so as they just work!

Why the Toyo Proxes Sport 2?

Grip: Exceptional handling in both wet and dry conditions means we can push the car harder, with more confidence.

Tread Design: The optimized tread pattern boosts wet grip and resists hydroplaning, keeping us safe in all weather.

High-Speed Stability: The Proxes Sport 2 improves cornering and steering response, especially at high speeds, making it ideal for both track and road use.

Durability: These tyres offer long-lasting performance, meaning we won’t be swapping them out any time soon.

With the Toyo Proxes Sport 2 fitted, our 335i not only looks the part but handles like it should too. The combination of the Wolfrace Munich GTRs and Toyo Proxes Sport 2 tyres is a match made in heaven for anyone looking to upgrade their BMW 335i and overall performance.

The Transformation is Real

This is more than just a cosmetic upgrade—it’s a performance boost that you can feel the moment you hit the road. The new Wolfrace Munich GTR wheels add a sharp, aggressive edge to the car’s look, while the Toyo Proxes Sport 2 tyres deliver the grip and handling we need to make the most of our suspension setup. The combination has taken our BMW 335i from a competent cruiser to a true performer on the road.

What’s Next?

With the suspension, wheels, and tyres now sorted, we’re moving on to the final phase of our build—styling upgrades! We’ve got some exciting mods in store to give our BMW 335i a subtle,  modern, race-inspired look. Stay tuned for Part 4, where we’ll be revealing the exterior changes that will complete this project.
