Need some new brake pads for your car? Well, typically Brembo is a good place to start looking. The Italian brand is undoubtedly the world leader in automotive stopping tech, so you know straight out the gate that you’ll be in safe hands with any of their products.
Still, the HP2 Sport brake pads are a relative new kid on the block, so it’s worth casting your eyes over them in greater detail before adding them to your figurative shopping cart. So, let’s take a look to see what they’re all about.
Brembo HP2 Sport brake pad specs
“Not just a new name but an evolution in braking performance…” That’s how the specialists over at Bremsen Technik Motorsport are referring to this new generation of pads, anyway.
The Brembo HP2 Sport compound is a high-performance, road-focused material. As such, that means it’s great to use on street builds which might also enjoy infrequent track days. On paper, these HP2s should offer you better resistance from fade and more stable/consistent friction across a wider temperature range. Brembo also quotes the HP2 Sport pads as having a high pedal modulation index, which should give you finer control over your car’s braking.
Being primarily a pad for road use, it also means that in addition to the improved performance, HP2 Sport pads should be relatively user-friendly. What we mean in that sense is that you won’t have to endure excessive noise or brake dust when you hit the middle pedal during the school run.
Brembo HP2 Sport brake pads work best in temperatures of between 200 and 300 degrees Celsius (392-572F), but can withstand much higher temperatures – up to 600 degrees Celsius (1112 Fahrenheit). These are therefore ideal brake pads for drivers who want a good blend of high-end performance and everyday practicality from their pads. May we also suggest that they’ll be even more effective if used in conjunction with Brembo TY3 rotors…
