Enthusiastic car detailers have some new specialised products to get their hands on, with Gtechniq introducing a pair of new car shampoos to its product range.
Our cars go through a lot: salt, rain, mud, bugs – it all gets plastered over them. Then they end up serving as target practice for the local pigeon population. So, it’s no wonder that plenty of people who love their cars, also love cleaning and detailing them to get rid of all those contaminants.
Besides, it’s not just about pride of ownership. Dirt can cause damage to paint over time if it’s simply left to fester, so to keep your car in good health, a thorough wash every so often is highly recommended.
New onto the scene is Gtechniq Gwash. More specifically, Gwash Mk2. The second iteration of Gwash car shampoos is said to have evolved to offer “safer, deeper cleaning” as well as being 100% biodegradable. Wetting agents have also been added to the mix, and here’s where things get a bit geeky.
The wetting agents ensure that the car’s bodywork is sufficiently lubricated, which should then help to minimize those annoying swirls you get when using a wash mitt. The aim with Gwash was to create a regular car shampoo, but developed to a greater level of performance.
The other half of Gtechniq’s new detailing duo is Ceramic Gwash. According to Gtechniq, it retains all the quality benefits of standard Gwash shampoo but offers more protection for your car’s paintwork on top. How does that work? Effectively, ceramic sealants are blended into the formula, which it claims can offer up to three months protection.
Rob Earle, Gtechniq’s managing director, believes that this new Ceramic Gwash is the first shampoo of its kind to offer both cleaning performance and long-lasting sealant durability. We’ll hopefully be able to test this product in the near future to see if it’s up to the task.
The standard Gwash mixture can be had from £8.95 in bottles ranging from 250ml to five litres. Ceramic Gwash can only be sourced in 500ml or one litre bottles though, and you’ll have to fork out a bit more too. Prices for the protective shampoo start at £19.98.
