It wouldn’t be Ken Block without a bonkers machine to drive, would it? Say hello to his new Audi S1 e-tron quattro Hoonitron; that’s right, it’s electric, and it’s heading for Gymkhana!
Based on the recently released Audi RS e-tron GT, the car has undergone an extensive list of modifications that suits the needs of Ken Block ahead of its use in future Gymkhana videos. Information on the specification is currently thin on the ground, however, we do know that it will feature all-wheel drive with two electric motors, features a carbonfibre chassis and will of course adher to FIA rules.
As you can see from the exterior, inspiration has been drawn from the original Group B nutter, the Audi S1 Quattro, which competed on Pikes Peak in 1987.
From start to finish, the project took just four weeks to complete at the hands of Audi Sport…
Ken Block said: “The S1 Hoonitron combines a lot of what Audi was already famous for in the 1980s. I think it’s cool that the Audi designers have been inspired by their own past and uniquely transferred the car’s technologies and appearance into the present.”
