A few years ago, Jaguar Land Rover announced that they were going to make a two-door version of the flagship Range Rover – an ultra-premium niche, limited to 999 models, with the supercharged 5.0-litre V8 and a crazy-posh interior.
But ultimately the SV Coupe was axed, because it seemed unlikely that nigh-on a thousand people would be prepared to pay £240,000 for a Rangie that’s deliberately impractical.
Rich people, however, don’t like to be told they can’t have something. So now the Adventum Coupe exists – a bespoke creation by Netherlands-based coachbuilder Niels van Roij Design. Yes, it’s got the supercharged V8, and yes, it hasn’t got enough doors.
Plus, it’s all fully customisable, with options including teak flooring, custom umbrellas, electric recliners in the rear and so on – and prices start at £245k, so it’s pretty close to the original mark.
They’re not building 999 of them though; production is limited to 100 examples. That’s probably a bit more realistic.
