Forget love story tragedies like Romeo and Juliet – the path to true happiness for today’s star-crossed lovers is quite clearly a pair of bagged Audis. ‘For never was a story of more ‘yay’, than this of Luke and his Faye’…
If William Shakespeare had anything to do with it, all love would be doomed. Look at his savage takedown of the concept of romance in Romeo and Juliet – you’ve got to keep your passion secret from your families because they want to kill each other, then you have to poison yourself, have a big fiery fight in a petrol station (although, now we think about it, we may be mixing up the original text with the Baz Luhrmann film there), and then die tragically. Doesn’t exactly fill you with hope, does it?
So Luke Massy and his beau Faye have taken another path. Thumbing their nose at Shakespeare’s terrible advice, they’ve instead cemented their union the Plush Automotive way – by tag-teaming reality with a smashing pair of RS Audis which complement one another beautifully. “We both started out in Peugeot 106s, and now we have these,” grins Luke. Sounds like a match made in heaven to us.
These twinkle-eyed romantics were both bona fide petrolheads from day one, and that certainly helps things. Faye’s path started with her dad buying a brand new Mk1 Audi TT when she was young, which instilled within her an indelible passion for sports cars. She’s had thirteen cars in twelve years, from that formative 106 up to the Nissan 350Z she had before this RS3, speaking volumes for her desires.
And Luke? Well, as the founder of revered scene superpower Plush Automotive, it’s safe to say he knows his way around a fast car. Having worked through several 106s, he moved onto a MINI, a Mk5 Golf, and an Audi RS4, mirroring motoring trends as a shop window into his exemplary business. And why an RS6 now? “It had always been a dream of mine to own one,” he smiles, which is just about the best reason we can think of to buy a car. “I bought it in October 2015 – although following it up with Faye’s RS3 was pretty unexpected!
After selling her 350Z around eighteen months ago we started looking for another car for her, but we didn’t know what to get; it just so happened that a client was selling his RS3, that we had previously fitted air-ride to – this came at a really good time so we went ahead and bought the car, exactly twelve months after I had purchased mine!”
Naturally when you’re in Luke’s line of work, a car purchase is never just a car purchase. Sure, he has plans for…
